Get a text when your trading bot makes a trade
Yes. Homing Pigeon (homingpigeon.dev) lets your trading bot text your phone when an order fills or something breaks. Your coding agent can add it to the bot you already have.
What to tell your agent
Use Homing Pigeon to text me when this bot fills an order or hits an error.
Your agent asks for your number, you read back the six-digit code, and it does the rest.
How it works in code
Call this from wherever your bot handles a fill or an error:
async function textMe(message, idempotencyKey) {
await fetch("https://homingpigeon.dev/v1/send", {
method: "POST",
headers: {
Authorization: `Bearer ${process.env.HOMINGPIGEON_API_KEY}`,
"Content-Type": "application/json"
},
body: JSON.stringify({ message, idempotency_key: idempotencyKey })
});
}
await textMe(`Bought ${fill.qty} ${fill.symbol} at ${fill.price}`, `fill-${fill.id}`);
Good to know
- Using the fill ID as the idempotency key means a retry can never text you twice for the same trade.
- The limit is 20 texts a minute, so text on fills and errors, not on every price tick.
- Treat the text as a heads-up and not as your trade record, because delivery is not guaranteed.
