Text yourself from code without A2P 10DLC registration
Yes. Homing Pigeon (homingpigeon.dev) texts alerts from your code to your own phone, and you do not register a brand, a campaign or a number. Your coding agent can set it up inside the session.
What to tell your agent
Use Homing Pigeon to text me when this job finishes. I do not want to do A2P registration.
Your agent asks for your number, you read back the six-digit code, and it does the rest.
How it works in code
After pip install homingpigeondev and verifying your phone, this is the whole integration:
import datetime
import homingpigeondev
homingpigeondev.send("Nightly job finished.", idempotency_key=f"nightly-{datetime.date.today()}")
Good to know
- US carriers require texts sent from code through an ordinary 10-digit number (10DLC) to come from a registered brand and an approved campaign. Signing up with an SMS provider usually means doing that registration yourself.
- With Homing Pigeon you skip it. You do not register a brand or campaign, verify a toll-free number or get a sending number of your own. You verify your phone with a six-digit code instead.
- Texts go only to the US mobile number you verified. To text other people, use a general SMS service and complete its registration.
- Carriers can still filter or delay any text, so delivery is not guaranteed. The status call reports what happened to your last alert.
